Dr. Gibson's Personal Story

I have been married to the most wonderful man for the past thirty-one years.  Together we have two sons (now grown adults) whom we couldn’t be prouder.  One son lives in Southern California, the other lives in Colorado with his wife and our one-year-old grandbaby.  Our yellow lab Stanley is a service dog that travels with us most of the time.  Sometimes that’s to enjoy a coffee and sometimes that’s on an airplane to see our grandbaby. We live in the Lake Norman area and enjoy walking Stanley and visiting local parks.

The year of 2016 has caused me to pause and self-reflect. During the past year, a dear friend passed away resulting from complications from dementia, and two family members passed away suddenly. It was then I began to ponder the question, “What is my Purpose on this Earth?” After a lot of soul searching I have come to realize that I have always felt best when I am able to help others.  I believe deep down I have always known this, but until now I was somewhat hesitant to branch out on my own serving families that need support.   In the past I have worked in the capacity of teacher or principal always affiliated with schools or school districts.  Don’t misunderstand…. I cherish each of those past work experiences. I believe they have brought me to where I am today.  Looking back to my tenure as an Emotional and Behavioral Intervention Specialist in California, a spark began to ignite.  I started to see all my past experiences working with others (especially children and their families) brought me the most joy.  Those who know me best say I have a natural instinct for working with others and figuring out how to best navigate situations.  That’s why it is now in my life I have decided to work with families and their children.  Trust me, your children will grow up quickly.  Learning strategies to best navigate homework time and consistently following a schedule the whole family can easily adapt to will be my number one goal.  I believe using researched-based Positive Behavior Intervention Supports will result in a less stressed child and a more peaceful home environment.  It is my hope that you contact me to discuss your needs in the home so you can begin to determine if I am the right fit for you and your child.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Trish Gibson
