Individual & Family Behavior Support

Behavioral supports are provided at your child's home, school or day-care environment.  An initial screening is conducted to identify needs, provide a general child overview, define target behavior and data collection. Dr. Gibson will work with family members, teachers, and daycare programs to identify appropriate and effective responses to behaviors and support the individuals need to gain necessary skills and/or adapt to their environment. The family has the option of seeking a Behavior Support Plan or full Functional Behavioral Assessment with a Behavioral Intervention Plan.  Consultations are provided in one-hour sessions. This service provides caregivers and individuals with the tools and support they need to achieve and sustain positive behavior change.

She will collect data regarding problem behaviors through observation and interview with caregivers, teachers and service providers to determine the function of a behavior.  This service provides caregivers and individuals with the tools and support they need to achieve and sustain positive behavior change.  If necessary, a Functional Behavior Assessment can be performed.  Results can then be integrated into a Behavior Intervention Plan to help modify behaviors.

Purpose:

Dr. Gibson’s purpose is to offer one-on-one guidance and support in the teaching and delivery of effective behavioral techniques. Children do not come with a manual or directions. Every family and every child is unique. She believes there is neither “one way” nor “one secret formula” to effectively parent a child. She will assess your family’s unique needs, strengths and familial dynamics to help you strengthen that system by offering practical, functional parenting skills and techniques.

Process:

Dr. Gibson will first meet with your family to identify needs and goals. Sessions may first involve only the parents to begin the foundation of the necessary skills and techniques to be mastered. Children can then join sessions where the application of the learned skills can be practiced. Parents determine how many sessions they wish to participate in based on their family's needs.
